I read a beautiful passage last evening. And as much as I would like to, I couldn’t resist sharing it with you. 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 says “Now thanks be to God who ALWAYS leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place”. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing (Click to Tweet)

My studio has a beautiful tree. And whenever it blooms, it spreads a beautiful fragrance all around the place. The aroma is so good that there are times I stay back at the studio just to enjoy its fragrance. It’s amazing when you think about it. It’s the same environment. It’s the same studio. But when the tree brings forth flowers, it brings about a change in its surrounding.

Look at this verse again.

The apostle Paul says that we are the diffusers, through whom, the knowledge of Christ is spread. What we carry in us has the potential to change the atmosphere! Hallelujah! It’s the same setting. The same environment. The same situation, challenge, problem, adversary. But, we change it, as we diffuse the knowledge of Christ.

photoHave you seen the little diffusers that diffuse fragrance in a room? Small, inconsequential containers that are available at most departmental stores. They work by releasing oils into the air in a controlled manner through soaking the reeds in the fragrant oils. The fragrance is scattered all around the room, by the diffuser reeds. These reeds don’t have any oil by themselves, but by simply staying soaked in the oil, they are able to spread the fragrance all around the room.

Similarly, you and I need to stay connected to the oil. If we want to spread the fragrance of the knowledge of Jesus, we must stay plugged in to the source – The oil of the Holy Spirit. Then, the fragrance is diffused through us. But note, we are not the fragrance. We don’t spread the knowledge. It’s the oil, the Spirit of God Himself who does the work, but through us!

So often, we are conscious of spreading this fragrance in our sphere of influence. We fear losing people’s approval or being called a fanatic. But, the great commission over our lives is to go to the ends of the earth and spread this fragrance. Through our workplace, our social circles, we must use every opportunity to share Jesus. Share His love and care. The key is to stay in the stinking, stench-filled places where we have been placed, and yet, spread the fragrance; amongst the drug addicts, amongst the prostitutes, business places, fashion industry and in the film industry. I believe a blood-washed India is a possibility.

If you believe in this, will you take a minute and pray with me for a blood-washed India? Will you ask Him to give you a revelation of how you can carry His fragrance in your area of influence?
